RHODES BACKS INDIA

The former South African batsman, Jonty Rhodes, has said that Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni will be the key players for India in the upcoming test series against Proteas.
India will visit South Africa towards the end of this year for a 3-match test series.

In one of his recent interviews, when Jonty was asked about that test series, he said, “It will be a close one. South Africa is definitely the more settled side at the moment, but, you can’t write India off. They have got some really good youngsters.”

“I think MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli will be the vital players for India in the test series. To be successful in South Africa, you need to play the short bowling well and these two guys are very good against short balls.”

When asked about the captaincy style of MS Dhoni, Jonty said, “He is a fantastic leader. I have never seen him panicking. I don’t know how he manages to be so calm.”

“Apart from being a great captain, he is a fine batsman as well. He is not the most stylish player in the world, but, he is very effective. He has played a lot of match defining innings in test match cricket for India coming down the order.”

When asked about Sachin Tendulkar who will play his 200th test match on the South Africa tour, Jonty said, “He is a legend. I am looking forward to see him bat in South Africa. I believe he still has plenty of cricket left in him.”

“Playing 200 test matches is an incredible achievement. I don’t think anybody will be able to break this record ever.”
The test series between India and South Africa will start from 26th of December and the first test match will be played at Kingsmead, Durban.
